Deborah was a woman in the Bible who did not give in to fear but had the courage to follow God.

The Israelites had forgotten about God, so God let an evil ruler named Sisera lead them for a time. They were treated terribly for 20 years.

The Israelites finally cried out to the Lord, and God raised up Deborah to help them. She was a judge and a prophetess. A prophetess is someone who hears a message from God and tells it to the people. Deborah trusted the Lord and relayed His message to the Israelite leaders:

"Hasn't the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded you: 'Go, deploy the troops on Mount Tabor, and take with you 10,000 men.'" Judges 4:6 (NIV)

Deborah was in sync with God and knew His message because she spent time listening to Him. When we spend time with the Lord, it also helps us care more about what God thinks than what people think.

How does spending time with the Lord help us know His heart and message?

Why do you think spending time with God helps us care less about what people think and more about what God thinks?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You that I am Fearless. It is awesome how Deborah listened to You instead of fear. Help me to do the same. In Jesus' name, amen.

Action:

Spend five minutes each day just listening to God in prayer. That will help you know His way and care more about what He thinks than what people think.
