DAY 7: Sharing the Gospel Anyway
Paul’s message in Athens—creatively contextualised and courageously proclaimed—got mixed reviews. Some sneered. Some stayed curious. A few believed.
That’s evangelism.
Paul didn’t allow the fear of rejection to silence his witness. He wasn’t sharing based on outcomes, he was sharing out of obedience. He’d made a rhythm of proclaiming Jesus in every place he went. “As was his custom,” Paul went about preaching in the synagogues, the marketplaces, and city councils. This was no add-on to his life, it was his way of life!
We sometimes treat evangelism like a box to tick or a skill for the “really confident.” But Paul shows us that evangelism is more about rhythm than rhetoric. It’s about being alert to who’s in front of you and being ready to share the hope you carry—even if it’s not received.
You won’t win everyone. That’s not your job. Your job is to show up, speak up, and trust the Spirit to do what only He can do. Some will sneer. Some will stay curious. But some—like Dionysius and Damaris—will believe. And for them, it will change everything.
Reflection Questions:
- What are your everyday rhythms or “customs” where you could naturally share your faith?
- How do you respond when someone rejects or ignores your attempts to talk about Jesus?
- Will you commit to sharing the gospel anyway, even when the results are uncertain?
Conclusion
Paul lived with boldness, allowing his spirit to be stirred by the brokenness around him and responding with the hope of the gospel. He knew his audience, built bridges from common ground, and made evangelism part of his everyday rhythm—even when it came with risk.
Like Paul, we’re invited to live alert and courageous lives, ready to share Jesus wherever God places us. Not everyone will respond, but that’s not our job—ours is to speak, sow, and trust God with the rest.
So, who are you called to reach, and what story has God given you to share?
