When someone hurts you, how do you typically respond? Some of us may quickly forgive in order to forget and move on. Even if we don’t really mean it in our hearts, we say it with our mouths to avoid dealing with the conflict. Others of us may hold on to that hurt. We don’t want to move on or forgive because doing so would mean the other person somehow gets away with it. But what about when the shoe is on the other foot? When our unfaithful behavior impacts someone else, how do we want to be treated? Chances are, we’d all say we want our friends to forgive us and remain faithful to us. That’s because, at the end of the day, faithful consistency in our relationships—regardless of whether we’ve caused hurt or wrong—is what we all want. The bad news? No person on Earth (ourselves included) can give us that all the time. The good news? We serve the one and only God who can! Even when we are unfaithful to God, He never lets His faithfulness to us waver. It’s because He loves us, yes, but also because faithfulness is who He is. It’s in His very nature!
This week, commit this verse to memory. Let it serve as a reminder in your heart and mind that God is always faithful.

As humans, we all wonder what God is really like? Is God kind, loving, powerful, attentive, loyal? Is God distant, unfair, harsh, judgmental, or absent? In other words, we’re asking: what can we be sure is always true about who God is? In this devotional, we’ll look to Scripture to explore those questions and ground the answers in unshakeable, unchangeable truth, uncovering more about who God is and why we can trust Him not just now, but always.
