One of the best demonstrations of God’s ever-present and never-ending goodness is Jesus. God saw that we, His children, were struggling under the weight of our sins. Those sins placed distance between humans and God Himself. Rather than leave us to figure out how to manage on our own, God made a miraculously good decision. He chose to make a way for us to be right with and close to Him again, once and for all. He chose to send Jesus in human form to the world—His Son in flesh and blood. That gift alone would’ve been good. It gave us a real-life example to follow and a tangible way to understand who God is and what God is like. But the goodness of that gift didn’t stop there! God allowed Jesus to die on the cross, taking on the weight of our sins and the punishment for their consequences. That is the ultimate display of the good nature of God’s character. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus serve as our constant reminder that there’s nothing God wouldn’t do to give us good—yes, even great—things.
Talk with a spouse, trusted friend, or members of your small group about what you’ve learned from Jesus about God’s goodness. How does Jesus’ death and resurrection remind you that God is always good?

As humans, we all wonder what God is really like? Is God kind, loving, powerful, attentive, loyal? Is God distant, unfair, harsh, judgmental, or absent? In other words, we’re asking: what can we be sure is always true about who God is? In this devotional, we’ll look to Scripture to explore those questions and ground the answers in unshakeable, unchangeable truth, uncovering more about who God is and why we can trust Him not just now, but always.
