DAY 2: When Purpose Loses Its Way

The fall did not remove purpose—but it redirected how people searched for it.

After sin entered the world, humanity began looking for meaning apart from God. Instead of receiving purpose through a relationship, people began striving for identity through achievement, control, and self-definition.

We see this today. People chase purpose through careers, success, relationships, and recognition. Yet many still feel restless and unfulfilled. Jeremiah describes this clearly: leaving the source of living water to dig broken wells that cannot hold what we truly need.

Sin does not cancel calling. It confuses direction.

When identity is unclear, purpose becomes exhausting. Obedience feels like pressure. Life becomes performance instead of a relationship. God never intended purpose to be self-created. It was always meant to be discovered through Him.

If you feel tired, stuck, or constantly searching, it may not be because you lack purpose—but because you are carrying it without God.

God is always calling us back—not to a new strategy, but to Himself.

Reflect

  • What have you been looking to for meaning apart from God?
  • Where might God be inviting you to return to Him?

Pray
Father, redirect my heart. I choose You as my source again. Amen.

Declare
I return to God as my source. My purpose is rooted in Him.
