DAY 3 — Purpose in Progress: Grace That Keeps You Close
Peter’s journey reminds us that purpose is not destroyed by failure—it is sustained by relationship.
From the moment Peter encountered Jesus, he followed Him closely. But following Jesus did not make Peter flawless. It exposed his humanity. Peter spoke when he should have listened. He acted before thinking. He tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross. He cut off a soldier’s ear in the Garden. And in his darkest moment, he denied Jesus three times.
Yet through all of it, Jesus never walked away from Peter.
And just as important—Peter never walked away from Jesus.
That is the beauty of grace. Peter failed, but he stayed close. He didn’t allow shame to disconnect him from the Source of his identity. Even after denying Jesus, Peter didn’t return to a life without Him. He stayed within reach of restoration.
Purpose is not for the perfect. It is for the present.
Jesus already knew Peter’s weaknesses when He said, “Follow Me.” Peter’s failures didn’t surprise Jesus, and they didn’t cancel the calling. The relationship kept the door open for growth.
This matters for us today. Many people walk away from purpose not because they failed—but because they disconnected. They confuse falling short with being finished. Jesus never makes that mistake.
When we remain attached to Christ, purpose continues to unfold. Grace does not excuse disobedience, but it creates space for transformation.
If you’ve stumbled, this is not the end of your story. Stay close. Jesus is still calling you forward.
Reflect
- How do you usually respond after failure—withdrawal or closeness?
- What would it look like to stay connected to Jesus instead of pulling away?
Pray
Jesus, thank You for Your grace. Help me stay close to You, even when I fall short. Amen.
Declare
I remain connected to Jesus. My purpose continues because grace keeps me close.
