Day 3: The Body Pressure Nobody Talks About

Scripture: Romans 12:1 (NIV)
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

Before Paul talks about the mind, he talks about the body. And that's worth slowing down for.

There is enormous pressure on your body right now. What it looks like. What it's supposed to look like. What you're supposed to do with it. Social media has made it worse. Beauty standards are louder than ever. And for a lot of students, the pressure to use their body to get approval, attention, or belonging is one of the heaviest pressures they carry.

Paul says offer your body to God. Not to the standard. Not to the culture. Not to whoever's attention you're trying to get. To God.

That's a countercultural statement. It means your body belongs to God first. It has worth because He made it, not because of how it measures up to whatever standard is trending. You are made in the image of God, and that gives you a value that no beauty standard can assign or take away.

And if your body has been used in ways that didn't honor that, whether by your own choices or someone else's, there's grace in Jesus for that. You're not disqualified. You're not damaged beyond repair. The same mercy Paul mentions at the start of this verse covers all of it.

Today: Pray one honest sentence about the pressure you feel around your body. You don't need a speech. Just be honest with God about it.
