Are You a Fair-Weather Follower of Christ?
Adrienne Saxon
SET:
Do you know the term “fair-weather fan”? This type of fan supports teams that play well but are quick to abandon teams whose performances don’t meet expectations.
Whether you experience an injury, the loss of a loved one, or an unfair call in a game, do not become a fair-weather follower of Jesus. He is testing you to see if you are really for Him. The Bible tells us that God has a plan to prosper us—that He withholds no good thing from those who love Him. You never need to question His love for you.
Christ has already won the victory against Satan, but in this life it can seem as if God is not in control. Imagine how Christ felt while on the cross! He felt like His father had abandoned Him. Yet He willingly chose to lay His life down and do the Father’s will. I challenge you to be like Jesus and cry out to God in your affliction. Be completely honest with Him about your desires, and ask the Lord to make His desires your desires. Then, trust your loving Father’s plans.
GO:
1. What is the Lord trying to teach you in this season of your life?
2. Do you believe He has plans for you that are better than ones you could write for yourself?
3. Are you committed to Jesus, even when it feels like He isn’t winning for you?
WORKOUT:
Psalm 55
2 Corinthians 12:19
Deuteronomy 31:8
OVERTIME:
"Lord, help me to serve and love You with all of my heart. Help me to remain faithful to You no matter the trials or tribulations that come my way. Help me to trust Your plan for my life. Amen.
