The Seed Parables - Disciple Makers Series #14Exemplo
The Parable of the Good and Bad Seed
Thoughts on the message
The disciples had trouble understanding the parable in Matthew 13:24-30. Here is the parable and Jesus’ answer to the question of what this parable means:
The meaning of Jesus is very clear so I will not explain it. However, at the end Jesus says to His followers – “listen!” This is exactly what He said to the crowd of people listening to all His stories. Now He says it to His followers. This is to you and me as well. What does God want us to listen to?
First, make sure you are His good seed.
Second, understand that there are people who look like Kingdom people – but they are not. Their fruit exposes them.
Third, God knows who is His good seed - He is okay with leaving the good seed to grow with the bad seed.
Fourth, God will deal with each in exactly the right way. We would make mistakes, but He will not.
Time to Pray
Father, at times You challenge us and expose our hearts. You did it to Your disciples, and You do it to us today. I know I am Your child. I know I am good seed. Still, You tell me to listen. Show me Your heart here – for us Your children, for Your requirement for justice, for Your promise of blessing, for Your commitment to see us through all the way to heaven. I take time today to stop and meditate on Your heart for us today. Reveal it to us.
Father, sometimes we do not understand why You allow people to stay when we think that they should be removed. Then I read this and say thank you. You know better than me. You know that it is going to produce fruit in my life. I am willing to see that happen. It is difficult, but in the end it is better for me. So let tough situations produce lots of good fruit in me and my friends. In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.
