It's Time to Take the Promised Land Exemplo
PROMISES, PROMISES, PROMISES
We live in a world filled with promises… and most of them are broken.
If you’ve found yourself walking around, wondering “Where’s my life headed? Is this all there is? What does it all mean, all this stuff I do and all these possessions I’ve surrounded myself with?” then you’re not alone.
In fact, those thoughts come because we live in a world where so many things promise so much. Thousands of messages flash into your brain every day: advertisements showing how happy and fulfilled you’ll be… if only you’ll buy this car or that gadget.
On some level, we know that’s ridiculous. Yet we start believing it, and that’s where the disappointment sets in.
Then, as you’re riding this merry-go-round of broken promises, Jesus comes along with some promises of His own. Like,
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you (John 15:7).
What do you make of that? It’s as though Jesus is just like all those other marketers out there, painting this picture of a Promised Land that’s too good to be true. So, here’s the question: Do you trust His promises, or do you expect them to fail, like all the others?
The truth is that God is a God of promise, and “brand Jesus” is the one brand that actually delivers.
God’s promises aren’t built on slick marketing. You can’t pay to receive what He’s offering you. The Promised Land isn’t delivered like a pizza. It’s true that it’s a land of blessing, but you have a critical part to play and the first step is accepting God’s promise.
Because you can’t have the Promised Land, you can’t settle there, unless you first believe it with all your heart.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
Laying hold of the promises of God involves battle after battle, and that’s a process that God involves us in as well.
So, if you want to enter God’s Promised Land, you have a choice to make: either keep running on the treadmill of broken promises and live an unfulfilled life, or to step out boldly, taking God at His Word, and setting out for the Promised Land.

- Do you think that has impacted on your ability to believe in the promises of God? In what ways has it affected you?
- Do you believe the promise that Jesus came to give you an abundant life?
- Given the life you’re living now, how much do you want to believe in the promises of God? Are you ready to boldly take Him at His Word… and step into the life He has for you?
