Eat, Run, And RememberExemplo
Finally, It’s Time to Roll
It must have seemed to Moses like a long way going from a burning bush to a caravan of 2,000,000 Israelites lined up behind him on the road out of Egypt. But Moses simply followed God’s will one step at a time. He saw a burning bush. He drew closer to investigate. He focused on pleasing God, not on pleasing the unknown. He learned that it is impossible to find God’s will without first discovering the God of God’s will. And he saw that God’s will is always accompanied by God’s power. Finally, Moses stepped out of his place of comfort and into a place of challenge, daring to follow God from the known to the unknown. He did the next thing, took the next step in obedience, seeking to know and follow the will of God.
Todd Beamer’s rallying call, “Are you guys ready? Let’s roll,” might have not been familiar to his fellow passengers, but it was a phrase Todd’s wife, Lisa, says he used almost every day to shepherd his young children out the door to any family event or outing. On September 11, the words were the same, and the heroic Todd exhibited to the next step in following God’s plan for his life. Lisa Beamer put it like this, “On September 11, Todd’s mission on earth was complete. He ended daring greatly, not with the cold and timid souls that know neither victory nor defeat (quoting President Roosevelt). Our challenge in this time remaining for us is to each day dare greatly for God, leaving lukewarm faith behind.”1
Do you hear this widow’s brave call to action? She is living out the faith that her husband passed down. It’s time for us to leave lukewarm faith behind, too. Are you ready? Through the shed blood of Jesus, the Passover Lamb, you can move out with confidence that God is leading and that His plan will have His power. Instead, let God hear these words from your heart and your lips: “I am ready, God. Let’s roll!”
