Bad Girls Rehab: Sexual SinExemplo
Masturbation and Pornography
The statistics say that currently women are battling with pornography just as much as men. Whatever happened to be holy…isn’t it simple??? Not so much. Sin has a way of deceiving and misleading.
However, before we start to discuss being holy, we must identify the central components of this section: masturbation and pornography are actions that do not please God through our bodies. Author Tim Challies refers to masturbation as selfish sex. Sex is meant to be an act of service to your spouse, with both of you receiving pleasure. However, according to Challies, when we participate in masturbation we make a mockery of the beautiful act that God created for our enjoyment. There is no commandment in the Bible concerning pornography. However, the Bible speaks overtly of fleeing sexual immorality. Viewing pornography is not fleeing. In some sense, you are feeding your lust appetite. In turn, that appetite will only grow stronger. James 4:7 instructs us to resist the devil. If we are not resisting what are we doing?
As children of God, we are created in the Creator’s image. As followers of Christ, our duty is to be an image bearer of the one who surrendered his life. So, in cases of pornography, masturbation, and other sexual immorality, we must ask ourselves, “What would Jesus do?” If these actions are in direct opposition of our Savior, whose image we bear, we must flee from them.
