Combating Anxiety With God's WordExemplo
Rest in God alone. I've said that to myself many times the last few days. I've had a difficult week. I am sure you can relate; we all have them from time to time. Anxiety has weighed heavily on me. Proverbs 12:25. The pressure can be crushing, bearing down on us with intensity. Pair it with the realization that, at times, anxiety can be distrust that God will provide, and you've got a recipe for a face-plant on the floor. My fickle emotions this week have varied from a good cry over a simple Facebook video to throwing a slight tantrum over something not going the way I wanted it to. How is that for being real and transparent, sisters?
Despite my messy, face on the floor, tantrum-throwing week, there still stands my Father God completely in control. He is the great “I Am”. He counts the hairs on our heads. Luke 12:7. He strengthens us, and helps us, He upholds us with His righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10.
Sometimes our face-plant on the floor is the best position to be in. It reveals our shortcomings, weaknesses, frailty, and shows us our absolute dependence on God, the One who can lift us up. Emotions come and go, they bring us high and can throw us on the floor, but God stands forever. My soul rests in Him alone.
