The Truths Of His Coming

A Message of Mercy and Grace

2 Corinthians 5:21

This powerful verse proclaims the unfathomable love of God. In it, God reveals His purpose for sending His Son: Christ came in order that we could become the righteousness of God. What does this mean? When you believe in Jesus, God counts your faith as righteousness. No, you are not righteous, but God considers and credits your faith as righteousness. The word Scripture uses for this act is justification. God can righteously justify us because of what His Son has done for us. Christ, who was sinless, became sin for us. God made it possible for us sinners to have a relationship with Him by sending Jesus, the One whose coming we remember and celebrate in this season. Had Christ not come, we would still be living in a broken relationship with God, guilty and condemned before Him.

God made a way to justify us—to declare us righteous—because of His unfathomable love for us. Because He counts us as righteous, we have the glorious privilege of living forever in His presence. God justifies us who were ungodly—an incredible mercy, a wondrous grace.

During this Christmas season, remember the incredible mercy and grace that has been lavished upon you through the coming of our Savior.
