DAY 2: Write a simple note of thankfulness to someone you haven’t before

“Kind words are like honey— they cheer you up and make you feel strong.” - Proverbs 16:24

Look around you. Chances are, even in the darkest of times, you have much to be grateful for. Much to our dismay, the gifts of God just keep on coming, often even in spite of the fact that we don’t deserve any of them. And the gifts can come in all sorts of ways.

One of the most significant, however, is through the people in our lives.

Often, in our prayers we thank God for family and friends, health, work, safety and security. We thank Him for eternal life and that He called us into His family. But look deeper.

Do we thank Him even for those far from God, or for those we don’t know well? For the checkout clerk, the woman who waves a happy hello each morning while she walks her dog, and the mailman who delivers packages, rain or shine? What about the teacher who made our daughter smile?

In each of our lives there is an abundance of people who make life a little better—who, if we consider long enough, we know make a difference in the world.

Today, thank God for one person in your life you usually don’t thank Him for. Write that person a little thank you note, explaining why you appreciate him or her and that you pray God would bless him or her. Hand that person the note and simply say, “I'm thankful for you.”

Reflect on how you felt doing this, how that person responded, and how you can follow-up in the days and weeks to come.
