Connecting During DeploymentExemplo
Where in the World
Have you ever wondered . . .
Where in the world did we get the idea that nothing would ever go wrong in life?
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Where in the world did we get the idea that celebrities, or my well-meaning buddies, have all the answers to life?
“For the wisdom of this world is folly with God” (I Corinthians 3:19).
Where in the world did we get the idea that “If I have my health, I have everything?”
“For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come” (1 Timothy 4:8).
Where in the world did we get the idea that ‘fooling around’ is okay because “everyone is doing it?”
“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous” (Hebrews 13:4).
Where in the world did we get the idea that the purpose of life is to be happy?
“ . . . and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8).
Where in the world did we get these ideas?
Answer: In the world.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).
So when you are faced with a situation during this deployment, where do you look for answers? You will find truth in His word, the Bible.
1. What situation are you facing right now for which you need God’s guidance?
2. Ask your spouse how you can pray for them so they can understand God’s truth instead of the way of the world.
The more you focus on God, the more you will see life through a scriptural lens. Read “Remembering God in the Mundane Events of the Day.”
