Leave A Legacy - Trust Fall SeriesExemplo
Testament of Truth
When you think of the things you are leaving to your generation, you tend to think about money and heirlooms. Who's going to get the china? Who's going to get that pretty vase? Whatever it is, we all think about that. When you show up at your great grandmother's house... you usually leave with stuff, right?
My wife and I have two children. Once everything has been taken care of with our kids and they're out of the house and making their own money, when we die we then plan to leave a “third child” of generosity. So, our two children will get two thirds and the “third child” is money given for the Kingdom of God. That is our inheritance. It's written in our will to give that away because we want to have eternal significance. We'll take care of our children, but we want to give to the Lord as well. We communicated this to our kids and they said, "That's awesome!"
Allow me to share our family’s will:
"I Gregory John Matte living in Houston, Texas declare this to be my will and testament. I want all who read this to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and there is no doubt in my mind that upon death I will enter into heaven. I will do so not on my own worthiness but through the merits of Jesus Christ our Savior and His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. I ask that my children and grandchildren share God's Word with everyone and to always remember how much you're loved, knowing that God will provide for you. I encourage you to place your faith in Christ alone and never trust the world for your comfort. I look forward to seeing you again in the life hereafter where we will all live together with our Lord and Savior. May God grant you peace and love and strength as He guides you through this life. And then, at the end of time, we will be reunited in heaven as a happy family seeing Jesus face to face."
That's my testament, to declare to generation after generation. Not just, "here's my stuff." This is the Truth of my life. The stuff… who cares? The Truth of God can change a legacy and a lineage in your life.

What will be your legacy? We often think about the material things we plan to leave to our children. Or we think about raising our children to be successful in this life, but what if we begin to think deeper. Peter tells us that our life is like a tent, it pops up and down eventually, but we have the opportunity to leave a legacy for generations to come.
