Introduction To The Leader's JourneyExemplo
INTRODUCTION TO THE LEADER'S JOURNEY
Day FOUR: Lead TEAMS
Devotion
One of the most exciting challenges of leadership is to build a team of people who love and serve one another while working together to accomplish a worthwhile mission. No one in history was better at this than Jesus.
Those who lead teams well are crystal clear concerning why the team exists. The leader must understand the mission and the importance of it. Knowing the why is critical before gathering a team. The why is the magnet that draws people to join the leader.
Prayer precedes the recruiting of people to the team. Jesus prayed all night about the men He was recruiting to be His disciples. Wise leaders want the right people to join them, so they ask for God’s help. Once the right talent is around the table, leaders then work to grow the skills of everyone on the team.
But talent and skill will only take a team so far. The best teams also possess a genuine sense of community. They love and serve each other, celebrate and grieve life's triumphs and tragedies, and over time, know each other deeply as they do life together. It is this kind of community that turbo-charges results, often taking a team from good to great.
Building and leading a great team is no small feat. It requires time, energy, communication, humility, and courage.
Remember, when you have talent, skills, and community focused on results, your team is positioned to win.
As you enter your day ask yourself…
Am I clear on ‘why’ my team exists?
Do I have the right people on my team to accomplish the mission?
Are the gifts and talents of my team members being unleashed?
Would my team members say that I lead them well?
Prayer —
Father, thank you for the vision You have given me and for the people on my team. Grant me wisdom as I lead them. Give me insight as to how all the talents of the team can be unleashed to the highest degree. Bless us with a love for one another, and fulfill Your purposes for our team. Strengthen me to lead with courage and love.
