If There Were No ResurrectionExemplo
Preaching Would Be Pointless
If Jesus hadn’t come out of the grave, what is the point of preaching and teaching? The encouragement we glean from pastors, and those who share the Word of God, would have no foundation. The hope that we share would be empty—a lie. The gospel itself is founded on Christ’s victory over sin and death. Because he rose, there’s a reason to share the good news!
Paul shares this exact message with the Corinthians, and builds the church in Corinth on this same foundation. We see in this Scriptural passage that there’s no hope to be had in a dead Jesus. Other belief systems place their hope, in part, on men who are now deceased, such as Mohammed. However, the difference in our faith is that we place our hope in a savior who is no longer dead, but who defeated death! The resurrection is what sets Christianity apart from every other belief system. Our hope is the only truly lasting, eternal one, precisely because He walked out of that grave.
Jesus is supreme because He is the only one who has conquered death, hell, and the grave. If He had not done this—if there was no resurrection—we would be wasting our time believing in and following Jesus. As you go about your week, and as you listen to preachers or pastors this weekend, thank God for the hope that we have in Jesus because of the resurrection! Express to Him your desire to share this Good News, and pray for opportunities to do so as you go about your days.
