Hallowed Be Thy NameExemplo
Yahweh: The Self-Existing One
Ex 3:14-15 God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” Say this to the people of Israel, I AM, has sent me to you....This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.
The name Yahweh occurs more than 6,500 times in the Old Testament and in the English Bible is written as LORD.
It is the personal covenant name of Israel's God. Jehovah or Yahweh is the most intensely sacred name to Jewish scribes and many will not even pronounce the name.
Yahweh comes from a Hebrew word meaning “to be” or “to exist.” Thus it signifies God as “the Self-existing One, the One who never came into being, the One who always will be.
He is the One who saw Israel’s oppression, heard their cry, knew their sorrow and appointed Moses to deliver them from the Egyptians. Yahweh is not a God who is remote or aloof, but One who is always near, intervening in history on behalf of His people.
When Moses said to God, “ If they ask me, “What is His name?”, what shall I tell them?”. God said, "I AM WHO I AM."
Ps 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
He wants us to know He is always there. He is always present and accessible when we call on Him for deliverance, forgiveness, and guidance. For our every need, God’s name is I AM, I am there.
♥ Response: Lord, I thank You as I remember how You have delivered me from Satan’s clutches. You are the Great I Am. You are an ever present help to me. You never change but are always constant. I can trust You completely. In Jesus’ name.
