Her Children AriseExemplo
Rahab
Trusting in God
God made a promise to Moses to rain “terror” on His enemies (Exodus 23:27). The people of Jericho were “melting in fear” because they knew they were defenseless against God’s mighty power. News of the Israelites’ miraculous victories at the hand of God had reached the ears of all of God’s enemies.
In Joshua 2, Rahab wisely trusted God’s protection more than the protection of her king. She turned her back on her people, their sins and their false gods, and put her life in the hands of the God who guides His people and keeps them safe. After the fall of Jericho, Rahab along with her family was spared, and she lived the rest of her life among God’s people. She was the great-great-super great (plus a few more greats) grandmother of Jesus.
I know my profession of faith and putting my trust in God did not resemble the Lifetime© drama affair that Rahab’s did. My story would read like this: “so she sat down on a metal folding chair across from two friends and prayed to God…” No spies, no espionage, no sign of the king’s men with swords and laser guns knocking at my door... Yet, the stakes were just as high for me as for Rahab: eternal life or death.
Rahab has such a powerful testimony! There can be no other explanation for her survival other than the fact that she put her trust fully in God. God moves in mighty ways when trust is at the forefront of your relationship with Him!
