Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Forgiveness & MercyExemplo
August 11
Introduction
A severe hailstorm strikes the Egyptians, and Moses warns the king that he, along with his officials and people, will also be punished. The flax and barley crops are destroyed. Once again, the king asks Moses to pray to the LORD and promises to let the Israelites go.
Today’s Scripture: Exodus 9:30
[Moses said to the king:] “I know that you and your officials do not yet fear the LORD God.”
Today’s Reading
Exodus 9:13-35
Reflect
Moses’s announcement about the forthcoming hailstorm allowed time for people to seek shelter for themselves and their livestock (verse 19). Others, however, disregarded the warning (verse 21). What consequence did they face? What part of the land had no hail (verse 26)? What did the king say to Moses and Aaron (verses 27 and 28)? After Moses prayed and the storm ceased, what did the king do (verses 34 and 35)?
Pray
Lord God, when the storms of life come my way, I know that I can seek safety in the shelter of your love. I lift up my voice in prayer and thank and praise you for your faithfulness and ever-present care. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those living in areas threatened by storms
Tomorrow’s Reading
Exodus 10:1-20: Locusts devour all the plants in Egypt.
