Worry - Finding Peace

The Hope

From an early age, we are taught that worrying is a necessary habit. Worry is introduced as a discipline that will hopefully straighten us up and cause us to change. While worry can spur us into action, more often than not it becomes a habit that leaves us in a constant state of fear, distraction, hopelessness, anxiety and defeat. Worry is one habit that needs to be broken. It clouds our judgment and blurs our vision so that all we can see are the problems of the present. We lose the ability to focus on the bigger picture, God’s ultimate plan for our lives. The plan to live with our Creator for all of eternity. The plan to worship Him with no more sickness, sorrow or pain. His plan is all that matters. As we begin breaking the habit of worry, we begin to see and live with God’s ultimate plan at the center of our lives. We begin striving to live in a way that brings God glory. It will never be easy. It will never be pain free. There are going to be lots of bumps in the road that make us want to live in a constant state of worry but we must choose to live with His plan at the forefront of our minds and hearts. Everything on this earth is temporary. Everything is an opportunity to bring Him glory. When we remember that, it strips away the focus of self and allows us to put our focus on the bigger picture. The one where God is the center of it all and our only goal is to know Him more and be more like Him. We will always encounter reasons to worry after all; we live in a world full of sin and imperfect people. These encounters must spur us on to action instead of stop us with fear. Live one day at a time knowing that all we experience is but for a moment and all about God’s bigger plan.

Worry - Finding Peace

When we place our focus on the “what-if’s” and “how’s”, our lives become consumed with worry. The Bible tells us that we don’t have to live exhausted and defeated by the concerns of this world. This plan will help us identify the root of our worry and will help direct us away from worry and move towards a life of peace and faith in Christ.
