Making Spaces For GodExemplo
DAY 3: EXPANSE
I recently found myself with an incredible opportunity to serve on the worship team for a conference which was exponentially bigger than anything I’ve done before. Hello, intimidation. Hello, self-doubt. Funny what comes to the surface when the space you are in expands rapidly.
Amongst the pure joy of worshipping amongst wonderful friends, I found myself feeling bound by what the stretch revealed in me. Imagine blowing into a piece of bubble gum - the more it is stretched, the more transparent it becomes. And some things are only designed to be stretched so far. Jesus teaches about the risk of using old wine skins for new wine. Old skins were already stretched to their limits and re-using them risked the skin splitting and losing the new wine!
God’s desire is to renew and restore us. In the stretch, I learnt I did not need more flexibility, I needed to be renewed.
In a beautifully unplanned moment of worship between sound check, I found myself overwhelmed by the love of God. As He reminded me of His love for me, I found intimidation and self-doubt fade away as His presence restored and renewed my heart.
Feeling a stretch? Take time to wait on God and allow his presence to renew and restore you.
PRAYER
As you listen to today’s instrumental - EXPANSE by Emily Jane Worship - ask God to show you areas of your life that need to be restored and renewed, trusting He can do just that.
