The Key to Personal ChangeExemplo
FIND YOUR BLIND SPOT
This is one of the hardest things to do, yet it’s also one of the most liberating. Jesus wanted to teach us this fundamental truth: we cannot guide others if we first don’t pay attention to what’s happening in our own lives. He said: “first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly…” It’s interesting to notice the order in the process: first we work on our stuff and only then will we be able to help others.
Here’s a series of questions that might help you:
- What weak areas in my life am I not seeing clearly?
- What is my blind spot?
- What do those closer to me seem to be consistently saying to me?
- What is their greatest complaint about me?
- What speck of truth should I extract from their words?
- What has the Holy Spirit been whispering to my ear?
DAY 2 CHALLENGE
Make an appointment with the people that know you more. Take some paper and a pencil, and ask them the kind of questions that are tough to ask. Ask them what your blind spot is. What are the behaviors or words you’re saying that are hurting other people? Ask them to describe the path you’re on right now. Don’t defend yourself, don’t put any excuses. Just listen and absorb the truth in their words. Even if it’s tough. Then ask God to reveal what He is saying to you through them.
