DC: Thoroughly Equipped-- God the FatherExemplo
DAY FOUR
Let’s wrestle with some common religious terms. First, define “holiness”. It’s the only character trait of God that’s repeated three times in a row. In Isaiah 6, we’re told that God is “holy, holy, holy”. But we’re never told that He is “love, love, love”. Why is God’s holiness central to His character and how is it central to our understanding of Him?
Second, “sin” can be defined in many ways, including error, evil, and “missing the mark”. There are also many categories of sin. List an example of each of the following: sins of omission vs. sins of commission; carnal sins vs. spiritual sins; sins of word, deed, thoughts, motive, strength (Romans 14:23), and timing.
Third, define “salvation”. In what ways does God save us? Among other answers, consider what I Peter 1:18 [NIV] says: 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors…
