You Can Trust God By Nina Smit Exemplo
The Easter Contract
God fulfilled every promise He had made to His people: He blessed them and made them a great nation. He saw to it that they prospered and, after wandering in the desert for 40 years (as a result of their rebellion and stubbornness), He gave to them the land He had promised them.
He even protected the Israelites from the diseases that afflicted the Egyptians. He promised that they need not fear their enemies, because He would help them and be with them always. However, if they refused to obey Him, they would need to face punishment for their sin.
In the New Testament it becomes evident that it is impossible for people to keep their side of the contract with God. A new contract or covenant is needed—one based on mercy and forgiveness. The Israelites had to bear the punishment for their sin, but God sent His Son to the world to take the punishment for sin in our place.
As a result, you do not need to carry the burden of your sin—Jesus paid that account in full when He died on the cross. All you have to do is to thank Him and, going forward, live your life for Him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that You paid the price for my sin on the cross. I want to live for You from now on. Amen.
