God’s Got This! – 5 Lessons from Exodus 14:12-14

Dia 1 de 5

Day 1. Cry out.

When your back is up against a wall, as the Israelites found upon their arrival at the Red Sea, it’s natural to “cry out”!

As psalmists demonstrated throughout the book of Psalms, God welcomes it when we cry out to Him! David, in Psalm 86, opened his petition to God this way: “Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God.”

The early church experienced this as well, when the same people responsible for Jesus’ death sought to put a stop to the gospel’s spread. In Acts 4:23-31, we look in on the disciples after Peter and John, newly released from custody, told their story. Jesus’ followers “lifted their voices together to God.”

Sadly, the Hebrews back in Moses' day cried out to their leader—even against their leader—rather than crying out to God. Here’s their first response:

“Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness” (Exodus 14:12).

When your back is up against a wall, the first step of faith in affirming that “God’s got this!” is to cry out to God!

God’s Got This! – 5 Lessons from Exodus 14:12-14

Moses led the Hebrew people out of Egyptian slavery . . . only to find themselves backed up against the Red Sea. Perhaps that's how you feel right now: trapped. Good news! There’s hope in God’s Word! Let’s look at Exodus 14:12-14 (ESV) to unpack five ways to respond in faith and face whatever challenges you find in front and behind you—and to say, with confidence, “God’s got this!”
