24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer

Mark Stephens

Ready:

“Never stop praying.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Set:
During a sermon my pastor, Paul Abbott, was talking about the verse, “Never stop praying.” Clearly, it doesn’t mean every second we are praying out loud. He said it means our lives with the Lord are like an unbroken conversation that just keeps going and going. Sometimes if we pay attention in church, the Lord gives us an assignment. During the service, I felt like the Lord told me to start a prayer event called “24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer.” The goal was to divide twenty-four hours into 48 30-minute segments for prayer. This would give us 24 hours of unbroken prayer. I gathered prayer requests to send out, prayer tips, and now we have had two events. We have seen changes and momentum in ministry since we started this movement.

How does God want to use this verse, “Never stop praying” on your team? Maybe during the preseason, you get parents to take a 30-minute segment. Maybe the Lord has a whole new idea for your team. Often, we spend our time in athletics praying for health, safety, and sometimes a win. Maybe God wants to do a new work in you and your team through times of prayer. Seek Him with all of your heart to know best how to serve Him.

Go:

1. How can you apply “Never stop praying” to your life?

2. Should you decide to create a local 24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer? Who could help you? What would be the cause to pray for?

3. Why is it so important that we pray?

Workout:

  • Matthew 9:6-13
  • Psalm 39:12
  • Psalm 65:5

Overtime:

“Lord, thank You for how You speak to us in Your Word. Thank You, Lord, how You speak to us during a sermon if we pay attention. Father, I need Your wisdom about prayer and if I should start a 24 Hours of Unbroken Prayer event. Lord, I am listening. Speak to Your servant. In Jesus name, Amen.”
