Begin Each Day With God

How we start our day can determine how our day will continue. Begin each day with God. Experts say you can condition your whole day by the first five minutes after you wake up and the last five minutes before you go to bed. As the psalmist says, praise the Lord in the morning and in the evening.

I decided not to immediately get up each morning upon waking. Instead, I would spend the first five to ten minutes connecting to the presence of Jesus Christ, dwelling in the presence of the Most High. To dwell means to make a habitation, to live. It is not to casually show up. We must want the presence of the Lord every morning. We must invite the presence of Jesus Christ into our room and into our hearts when we wake up.

Our physical body picks up debris every day; that is why we take daily showers. Similarly, our soul picks up debris every day. Little aggravations, unforgiveness, anger, anxiety: all of these need to be removed from our soul. We must leave those things behind at the end of each day. Changing the beginning and end of each day will change our days and change our lives.

Planning each day is just as important. Good things seldom happen unless we think and work to make them happen. We must trust God for His guidance. Ralph Waldo Emerson–one of the greatest thinkers in American history, said, “All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.”

We plan, but God directs our steps. We must ask ourselves: What is most important to do and accomplish today? Wake up with God, go out and do your best, and trust that God will work it out. He directs our steps. That is such a powerful declaration from God!

Change A Day, Change Your Life

We cannot live for yesterday, as it has already occurred. We cannot live for the future, because it is not here yet. The only moment in time we have is right now. We only have today. We need to change our perspective and think in terms of, “What can I do today?”. If we can change today, we can change our entire life.
