Please the Lord
In the book of 1 Corinthians, Paul says being single, as he was, is a gift. He wants us to understand that singlehood gives us time to spend with the Lord. Being single does not involve the worries of a married person. Paul says that the concerns of an unmarried man or woman are about things of the Lord.
Married couples have worries that singles do not have. They have to think about pleasing their spouse, along with other responsibilities. Their interests are divided. When you are single, you have greater freedom. Marriage is a great gift, but it brings a lot of concerns. The word 'concerns' translated, from the Greek, means to be anxious and pulled in different directions. If you think you are busy now, wait until you get married. It will no longer just be you—you will have a partner to consider in most decisions.
If you compare a single person who wants to go to dinner and a movie to a married person, the single one will choose a restaurant, a show time, and go that evening. A married person must call their spouse to see if they have any other plans. If they have children, they will need a babysitter. Eating at a restaurant with children is not an easy task, which is why I learned with my family to eat out wherever there is a drive-thru. Think about the money that will be spent at dinner and a movie by a single person compared with a married couple. The couple could probably buy a DVD player or a TV with all they are going to spend.
Marriage requires a lot of work and dedication; I do not want to discourage anyone from marriage. Both marriage and singleness are wonderful chapters. There are many blessings to the married life, but God has a place for you here in this season of your life. In your singlehood, you can choose to not be worried about anything or anybody. Go forward in ministry, interact with people, and pray for the people God lays on your heart. I want you to share Christ with others and please the Lord.
