Dusk

The sun rises and the sun sets.

It’s interesting that we use this terminology even though we know the truth. The sun is not what is moving but rather, the earth is. It is often thought that dusk is the sign that the day is coming to a close, but as we know, much still occurs in our lives even though the motion of the day begins to wind down. It’s the culmination of the day’s memories; however, it’s a moment where memories are still made.

What if we chose to reframe how we think of dusk as it relates to our day? Maybe it isn’t the sign of the end, but instead, a promise of what is to come and a reminder of what the present moment holds. God does not move in and out of our day; He is always present.

Dusk is a reminder that the day is yet to conclude, that there is more. It’s opportunity. An opportunity to contend with the past and the present. It’s the time some of us gather with friends or family to share a meal. We share memories, we wrestle with conflict and chaos, we celebrate life, we pause and reflect. We think and hope for tomorrow.

This reminder is painted in the sky. Just before the coming of darkness and dreams, we get a vision of God in a sunset. The sky is on fire with God’s glory and power—a reminder of Who resides over our days and our lives. Dusk can provide us with hope.

At dusk, we are reminded that the Creator of the Universe, the One who set all that is into motion is with us. Has been with us. Will be with us. Where did you sense God today?

Moments

Moments. The fragments of time that make up our days. The economy that's most valuable to us. In a perfect world, we're soaking in every moment. But in reality, urgency can easily become our focus and we lose touch with what’s truly important. Throughout this 5-day study from CCV Music, we look at the key moments of the day and see how God is present in every moment.
