Friendship With GodExemplo
Day 5 - Hoping with God
Hoping or dreaming can often bring a little bit of anxiety. The world has taught us that it is “childish” and that we should be more realistic. The world has told us that we need to grow up, but that was never God’s response to His people.
I love David’s story. There is this one time that Nathan the Prophet was talking with David in 2 Samuel 7. David was describing how he felt like he had a nicer home than God. Nathan’s response was for David to do all that was in his heart. The very same night God came to Nathan and told him how the plan would be a little different. God dialogued, through Nathan, with David about the dreams in his heart. They dialogued together!
When we delight ourselves in God, He promises to give us the desires of our heart. We are invited to hope in Him and with Him. It is important that the prerequisite for getting the desires of our heart is the delighting in Him. Not just singing some songs on a Sunday or going to a bible class on a Wednesday but delighting. Making time for. Desiring to be around. Wanting to please not mustering up the self-control to do what’s right. Delight.
Today, take some time and consider the places that God is inviting you to dream and hope once again. Was there something you always wanted to do as a kid? Perhaps you have had this God-sized idea bouncing around in your head for years but don’t know how it would be possible. He is kind of into impossible things.

Friendship with God is all about growing your relationship with God. Throughout scripture God has many names. Comforter, Lord, Protector, Provider and on. One of the things He called Himself that really hit me hard was that He called Himself my friend. What could life look like if we live like God was actually our friend? This changed my life and I hope it will change yours as well!
