The Heart of God Towards the Poor and SufferingExemplo

The Heart of God Towards the Poor and Suffering

Dia 4 de 14

The Old Testament is layered with Gods care for the poor and his laws that served to protect them. He commands us in Zechariah 7 to, “not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor.” He establishes a gleaning principle in Deuteronomy 24 that allows for the poor to gather food. As we saw yesterday, God identifies himself with the poor and suffering and it would only seem right that He would see to it that they are cared for.

We are Gods hands and feet on the Earth, called to alleviate the suffering around us. If we are not sacrificing for the least of these, what are we doing with the many blessings graciously given to us? Are we not blessed to be a blessing to others? All that we have been given we are merely stewards of; entrusted to us by God. They are not merely for ourselves, but with what we have been given, we are to share it with those less fortunate.

God has asked believers that we consider others more significant than ourselves and to look to the interests of others. It is through us He wants to care for the poor. How are you stewarding the blessings given to you in order to help the poor and suffering? What can you do with what God has entrusted to you?
