Slō AdventExemplo
Session 5 - Adoration
Part 1. Preparing your heart to be present with God. Allow yourself a moment in silence — acknowledging God is present with you. Perhaps take a few deep breaths. Focused breathing helps the mind to pause, reset, and reorient our attention on God.
Part 2. Slowly read through the passage.
Part 3. Questions for personal reflection or for sharing in a group. For a group facilitation we encourage time for people to share their experiences without discussion. After each person shares the group could respond with a “thank you for sharing.” If you are using this for personal devotion we encourage giving yourself time to journal.
- What stands out to you from this reading?
- How is this good news to the world?
- How is this good news in your life?
Part 4. Breath prayers, I invite you to create your own breath prayer from this passage. Listen for words that stand out to you, use two short phrases that can be spoken with one breath. Write them down somewhere so you do not forget.
Thanks for joining us for this series, we hope that your time was meaningful. Consider subscribing to our podcast to experience more guided prayer from the Ember Collective. You can find us by searching — slo guided prayer — wherever you podcast, or by visiting sloprayer.com.
And as you go from this place, may your heart and mind be filled with peace. Amen.

This five day devotional is geared towards helping you to engage with scripture in quiet reflection through this special season of Advent. Four of these sessions follow the Sunday Advent Candle lighting, then a Christmas eve reading of the Christmas story. We invite you to use these in facilitating group/family engagement or for your personal time of devotion. Feel free to use written meditation or the accompanying audio.
