Fasting With OthersExemplo
Social Media Fasting
Our fasts are not limited to abstaining from food. Whatever we are fasting from, it is important to remember that we are fasting to grow in our relationship with the Lord.
Fasting is a special way for someone to grow in their relationship with God. Abstaining from food is not the only way to fast. A different type of fast could be one involving the daily use of social media. For many it has become a daily routine which can cause us to get distracted in our relationship with Christ. Emma Mae Jenkins shares with us her own experience with social media fasting.
Social media can be a great way to stay connected with friends and family. It becomes harmful though when we begin to find our worth in our number of followers or likes. We need to stay focused on finding our worth in Christ. Remember that Christ loves you and He has given you a seat in Heaven. Your worth comes from Christ and His death on the cross, not our popularity on social media. If you choose to fast from social media, look for ways to spend time with God instead of being on social media. In her social media fast, Emma Mae decided to pray each time she wanted to open a social media application. Find a way to spend time with God in your fast that works best for you.

The idea of fasting with others seems a bit strange. Jesus made it quite clear that we were not to draw attention to ourselves when we fast. Yet there were times where the Bible calls His people to a corporate fast. This five-day audio plan will give you some insight into the benefits of fasting with others. Our five guests will speak of their experiences in fasting with others.
