Let's reflect

One of the primary themes found throughout Scripture is the importance of reflecting on what God has done so that we can internalize those lessons for when they are most needed.

For example, when Israel was wandering through the wilderness, the Lord led Moses to frequently remind the Israelites of what He'd done by leading them out of Egypt (Deuteronomy 6:12) and all the ways He provided for them in the midst of their wanderings (Deuteronomy 8:2).

The purpose of that remembrance was that God knows we are forgetful creatures who, like Peter in the boat on the Sea of Galilee, are prone to pay more attention to the storms around us than the God in front of us.

One of the best ways to combat that natural tendency is by creating time in your schedule dedicated to simply reflecting on what God has taught you and all that He's done for you in recent days.

To that end, we'll spend time in prayer, asking the Lord to help us make the necessary connections to internalize those teachings to the point that they'll be there when we need them most.

Our hope is that this time of focused reflection can become a pattern in your walk with the Lord that will bear fruit long after our celebration of Easter has come and gone.

So, with that in mind, we began with Tel Aviv, where we discussed the origins of modern Israel and God's call to regeneration and renewal.

From there, we spent the rest of the week in Caesarea Maritima, where the Lord warned us of the dangers inherent to divided allegiances and called us to show Him the same kind of love and devotion that He has shown to us. It was here that God reminded us that there can be no lasting success and significance without Him. And it was here that we professed our gratitude to God for welcoming us into His family, just as He did Cornelius.

I don't know which of these lessons you needed to hear most this week, but let's spend the rest of our time today in prayer, asking the Lord to speak once again through these ancient places and the stories they tell to draw us into a closer and stronger walk with Him.
