DISINTERESTED CHARITY/MOTIVES OF GIVING
The above verses throw light on how our motives of giving should be and the motives behind all our generosity. A man may give purely from the motives of self interest. Such giving is rationalized selfishness. Jesus here conveys us the message that the best kind of giving is when the giver does not know to whom he is giving, and the receiver does not know from whom he is receiving. Giving from a sense of duty to to feel superior is far from being generosity. Reward is certain for a man who gives with no thought of reward. The clear message here is acceptance and recognizing others as one's equals, cementing fellowship is breaking bread together. Breaking bread together with those who are not in a position to host us in return is a blessing.
Dear God,
Give us eyes to see that possibilities and a heart big enough to provide for a person in need. God, you have shown us that providing hospitality to strangers opens a doorway into the Kingdom of God. Remind us that when we offer hospitality to others, we are receiving Christ into our midst and so fulfilling the law of love. - Amen

My inspiration for this 30 days Devotional is from prolonged theological discourses on Justice. My burning desire is to see that the Church becomes catalyst to stop violence against the poor. I am also grateful to Organizations who work relentlessly to secure Justice for the poor.
