Unravel Hidden PotentialExemplo
Reaching Your Full Potential
Within months of joining a software startup, I discovered that the company was headed for trouble. I learned that our parent company in the US had run out of money and could not support our development center anymore. We were on our own, with the choice to either close up shop or generate business ourselves to stay afloat.
As one of the few senior managers, I was asked if I could help find customers. It was a foregone conclusion that if some of us declined, the company would have no option but to close down.
If I agreed, it would require me to travel to parts of the world I had never been to before. Added to that, it was not clear what I would do once I reached there. After all, I had never sold a thing in my life. I only knew how to write code.
I cannot remember what made me say ‘yes’; perhaps a belief that I could reach beyond myself.
As I prepared for my first journey, it struck me how Abraham must have felt when God told him to go to a land He would show him (Gen 12:1). He was given no clear destination or goal, but a promise that God would make him a great nation.
One year later, the company was back on track.
How often do we find ourselves at a crossroads where we have to reach beyond our perceived capabilities − to take the untrodden path and to do what we have never done before? It would be easy if God were to give us the blueprint, the roadmap, and other essentials!
Abraham stepped out in faith and he was commended for it. It was credited to him as righteousness (Rom 4:22). It took him from obscurity to becoming a patriarch − a great man of God.
Have you settled for less in life today? Do you feel there is much more you can accomplish but are fearful of taking up the challenge?
God not only wants to stretch and strengthen our faith, but He wants us to reach our full potential. Step out in faith!
Dear God, help me to set aside my fears and anxieties and step out in faith. Amen
