No u-turns

Driving on freeways is fun. The open road, just you and your thoughts. It's oddly peaceful if you think about it. But one of the downsides of freeway driving, is if you miss your turn. Unlike the city, where you'd be able to make a U-turn pretty easily, that's not the case on the freeway. If you miss your turn it’s going to be a long time before you have the opportunity to turn around!

Unlike with freeways, when we come to the end of our lives there is no turning back. There isn’t just a long time to wait before we can do a U-turn, there are no second chances, We can't just do a U-turn once we have lived our lives. There are decisions we and others make on earth that impact our eternity [John 3:16]. As a follower of Jesus, we also share God’s heart for people [John 13:34]. That's why we want everyone to be in a relationship with Him as soon as possible. [2 Peter 3:9]. So what actions can we take to help people make a U-turn in life before it's too late?

The first step we can take is to pray. We need to be praying and asking the Holy Spirit to highlight people in our worlds that could benefit from the love you’ve experienced. Once the Holy Spirit has highlighted them to you, build a relationship with that person and then wait for the Holy Spirit's prompting around how and when to start that conversation.

Secondly, we need to be ready to give Jesus the credit for the transformation in our lives. As you grow, people start to see your transformation, get curious and ask ‘what led to your change?’ Or ‘I want what's in your life. How do I get that?’ It's in these moments where you can chat about the transformative power of Jesus and engage in a conversation that might change their eternity  [1 Peter 3:15]. Both are impactful and we often see God using a combination of both in a believer's journey.

PRAYER

Jesus, thank You that You don't want anyone to perish. I pray that what You're doing in me doesn't just stay in me, but overflows into every place I go. Lord, I pray that You would use me to see others make U-turns towards you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
