Hosanna to the King!Exemplo
The Son of David is King of Israel and other nations
The prophet Ezekiel had a message of hope for the people of Israel when they were scattered among the nations: God would bring them back to their country. He would even restore the unity between the northern and the southern kingdom, so that the Israelites would be one people again. Ezekiel proclaims that “my servant David shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd” (Ezekiel 37:24).
These hopeful words were partially fulfilled in the following decades, as a remnant of the exiled Israelites returned to their country. But, there was no Davidic king yet. Jesus says that He is this king and shepherd: “I am the good shepherd … And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So, there will be one flock, one shepherd” (John 10:14-16). These “other sheep” are people from other nations. Jesus thus extends the promise in Ezekiel and includes both Israelites and non-Israelites in His “fold”!
Till now, Jesus’ kingdom is closed or unbelievable to people who don’t recognize Him. But at the end of time, the kingdom of the world will become the kingdom of Jesus Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever (Revelation 11:15). Are you longing for that future?
