Expectation vs Reality

Have you ever bought a product online that looks like one thing, but when you receive it it looks like something completely different to what you were expecting? Or maybe you went to a restaurant and ordered something out of the menu that looked incredible in the picture, but when you received the plate it was very different? Many times we buy something because of the picture, but when we receive our purchase it disappoints us because it doesn't look at all like our idea of that purchase. It has happened to me several times, and it is really frustating that the expectation is so different from reality.

Many times, we live based on appearances and not on reality. Social media is a clear example of this: we show the world pictures of an incredible life, that can be very far away from real life.

As it says on John 8:44,  we live in a fallen world where the devil, the father of lies, governs. And we have to choose: are we going to live according to his reality? or are we going to live according to the Kingdom's reality?

Are we going to buy the picture full of lies that the enemy is trying to sell us? Or are we going to align ourselves to the picture of heaven that God gives us through His Word?

In the next days, with Jacob and Esau's story and others more in the Bible, we are going to dive deep into the lies that we buy as human beings. Prepare your heart to identify what lies you've been buying. I trust that God wants to reveal his truth to you through this devotional.

Prayer: Lord, I give you thanks for allowing me to have this moments of intimacy with you. I ask you that in the coming days you help me open my heart to your words. Reveal those lies that I've bought or I'm buying, and help me interchange them for the truth. Amen.
