My Hero: Healing From Wounds of a FatherExemplo
Day 10 - No Example/Bad Example
Fathers have a responsibility to be examples for their kids. For young men, fathers are supposed to show them what they need to develop into. For young women, fathers are supposed to display the attributes they should be looking for in a husband and mirror how God treats us.
But dads can fall short in this category too, and fail to pass on the necessary knowledge they were entrusted with. Most commonly this is because a good example hadn’t been set for them. It could also be due to the father not being around enough. Dads have to be around to develop a sufficient relationship with their children to the point where they can observe their example.
Much like discipline is an important part of growing up, so is having good examples to look up to. Without them, we could be lacking essential knowledge that could have made our lives a lot better. It’s usually far easier to do something if you have someone show you how to do it first hand. It’s a lot harder just reading or hearing about something and then trying to do it without ever seeing an example.
People learn a lot through observation and instruction. Especially when we’re growing up. This is why God stresses for parents to pass along what they knew about God to their kids. That way, the kids can benefit from what they know.
Sobre este plano
Dads can be such important figures they seem almost larger than life, like superheroes. God gave us earthly fathers to be extensions of Him to provide protection, guidance, and love. When they don’t fulfill those expectations, it can cause deep wounding. This plan covers ways we can get healing from the wounds of a father.
