Not Part of the PlanExemplo
Day Five: Freed Up to Live For Him
This may sound crazy to say, but the more I began to surrender my life to God, the more I thrived. The more I understood that my life was all about God, the more satisfying my life became. The more I lived out my purpose to bring glory to God, the more purpose I had in every little detail of my life.
Coming to a place of complete surrender is what God wants for each of us. So how do we get there? How do we live a fully surrendered life?
The beginning step of surrender starts with the basics. It starts with trusting in Jesus for your salvation (Romans 10:9–10). It starts with accepting Him as your Savior and believing that He is who He says He is: the Savior of the world.
If you have made that decision to trust Jesus for salvation, I have a question for you: What’s keeping you from living a fully surrendered life to Him right now? What’s keeping you from following the example of Jesus and saying, “Not my will, but yours, be done” (Luke 22:42)?
Not my will, but Yours, be done. Yours be done in every area of my life. Big and small. I want Your will in my relationships. In my marriage. In my fertility. In my career. In my education. In my finances. In my dreams. In my ambitions. And absolutely everywhere else. The surrendered life is focused on serving God in and through everything you do.
This was the place of surrender that God brought me to several years ago. When I got to this place of surrender, I just remember feeling so free. I finally felt free to live for God with no other agenda standing in the way. That heart of surrender and life of freedom is exactly what God wants for you too.
That, my sister, is the surrendered life.
It’s living life with the end goal not to get or do what you want but to point others to Jesus. The circumstances of your life will change throughout the years, but your purpose remains the same. Glorify God and enjoy the freedom and joy the surrender life brings.
What is that thing for you? What’s keeping you from finally unclenching your fists, surrendering that desire to God, and living fully right now? What changes do you need to make in order for Jesus to be number one in your heart?
