LOOKING AHEAD

Philippians 3:10-14

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)

A life journey is about leaving the past, being active in the present, and walking towards future goals. However, past experiences of success or failure may trap many of us.  Simply enjoying the past proves that we no longer believe in today, and therefore, it will be difficult for us to see God's plans for our future.

Looking back to the past too often will make us no longer believe in today. Because of this reason, we will live less enthusiastically and emotionally. It is easy for the devil's temptation to persuade us.

As believers, we need to change our foresight that we will be able to see our purpose. We are no longer bound or obstructed by our past life experiences. Let go of all the things behind us boldly, and we will see God’s provided grace.

God never ceases to teach us through our life journey in the past, present, and future. Direct our life's goals to look forward at all times because the things in front of us are better and more beautiful, perfect, and noble.

Reflection:

1. Are you still attached to your past? If so, how do you get rid of yourself?

2. How do you see yourself in five years, ten years from now? Will you become a better or a worse person?

Application:

Forget the past and set your life on purpose with eyes that look to Lord Jesus Christ.
