Grace to Be Strong and CourageousExemplo
We Can Make Fear Lose Its Grip
It seems fear is gripping the minds of the world as never before. There are moments in history in which a crisis clenched its bony hand around the hearts of nations attempting to crush the spirit right out of them. Those moments our ancestors faced took courage. They may have felt dread, panic, or terror; but out of chaos champions often arise.
You may know the story of David, who killed the giant, Goliath. He demonstrated unwavering courage. He was a man, undeterred by fear, who became a great warrior. The king became jealous of David, so he tried to kill him. David, a man of honor, didn’t want to fight the King. So, he ran. Once, while he and his men were at a gathering of military leaders, the Amalekites burned their village to the ground and took all their wives and children captive. His men were devastated and angry. They had given everything to follow David and now they had lost their families. These guys, who had fought side by side with David for years, now turned against him and threatened to kill him.
This was heartbreaking for David. He was probably a little afraid, but he didn’t act from fear. Instead, he strengthened himself in the Lord. How? By seeking God’s plan for him and his men. They overtook the Amalekites, killed them all, and rescued their families.
Have you ever felt as though your thoughts were held hostage? Has there ever been a time in your life in which you needed to overcome fear and demonstrate courage? It’s not always easy, but courage is possible through grace as we strengthen ourselves in the Lord as David did by looking to our God for direction. When we trust His ways we can overcome the enemy in our thought life and cause him to lose his grip upon our souls when we rise up to become the champions of our own thoughts-learning to recognize the lies of the enemy and the truth of God.
You are MORE than conquerors THROUGH HIM! He has overcome this world and as the great conquering warrior has already carried off the victory and vanquished the enemy. Your challenge is to vanquish the lies of the enemy and fear in your own soul. It is possible. You can do it. Rise up, Mighty warrior of God!
