Mary, Did You Know?Exemplo
Mary was humble
“My spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant.” (Luke 1:47-48)
Mary had a unique place in the history of salvation. But she was not proud or arrogant. On the contrary, she said: “I am not important, but He [God] has shown His care for me, His lowly servant”.
Mary’s song echoes the song of Hannah that is recorded in 1 Samuel 2. This woman was also blessed by God. He gave her the son that she had longed for so badly. Both Hannah and Mary took their personal experience as a starting point to sing about God’s greatness. They rejoiced in the fact that the Lord stands up for the humble, the oppressed and the hungry.
The same theme is also addressed in 1 Corinthians 1:27-29, where the apostle Paul says: “God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God”.
God is not impressed by pomp and splendor. In Isaiah 66:2 (ERV), He says: “These are the people I care for: the poor, humble people who obey my commands”. Are you humble, like Hannah and Mary?
