Forms of LoveExemplo
Love Is An Action
Love is in the air! Chances are, as you step out this week, you’ll see love hearts, fluffy bears and chocolates as a declaration of love for Valentine’s Day. Whilst the world is celebrating romance, love is more than walking into the sunset holding hands with your beloved. Love is an action. It’s a decision to do something for someone else without expecting anything in return. And nobody loved like Jesus.
Jesus loves us in a way that nobody else has or can. He loved us to death. He gave up His own life out of love for us and a desire to see us reconciled with our Heavenly Father. And He did it knowing that many wouldn’t accept His love and gift of salvation. While we aren’t Jesus, we can follow His lead and love like Him. We can show His love by being His hands and feet to a weary and hurting world.
If you think you don’t have anyone in your life to love, can I encourage to look around? Take a walk down your street and look around at your neighbours. Contact one of the local social services and find out what their greatest needs are. Ask your local butcher how their day is going. Help an elderly person cross the street. Acts of love can be as simple as taking some cookies around to the new family that’s moved in, or inviting someone for a meal or a coffee.
However, the greatest act of love is telling someone about Jesus. It’s inviting them into the greatest love story known. It’s letting people know that the Creator of the world loves them, knows them by name and wants a relationship with them. Let’s love people this season by loving them into the arms of Jesus.

Love. Over time it’s a word that’s so intricately linked to its romanticized definition that we can miss not only the many forms of love that are around us, but more importantly, we can miss the enormity of the love God has for us. As you journey through this week’s readings, spend time reflecting on your own experiences of love.
