Liar, Liar Cant's on Fire: Lies Told by the EnemyExemplo
Lie #5 - “You can’t prosper financially”
God certainly cares about our finances as much as He cares about other areas of our lives. He has created a roadmap to prosperity and Biblical stewardship for each of us to experience the fullness of His provision. He not only challenges us to test Him by tithing (giving Him our first ten percent) but also encourages us with the promise of a blessing we can hardly contain (Malachi 3:10). Nowhere does the Bible insinuate that Christians are more spiritual in the posture of need or lack. I would argue that the more financially prosperous we are, the more we can give and the more lives we can impact.
However, the devil has convinced many of us that we barely achieve levels of income to sustain our lifestyle, let alone possess a surplus from which to give. We have bought the lie that tithing is a scheme created by the church to pay staff salaries. Our enemy has done a masterful job of convincing us to wrap our arms around our resources and squeeze tightly. The rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-22) encountered Jesus and asked how to inherit eternal life. When Jesus explained that he must sell all his possessions and follow him to inherit treasures in Heaven, the man walked away in sadness because He was unwilling to trust the promise of Jesus.
We are often unwilling to trust the principles of sowing and reaping in our finances. We walk in fear instead of faith. When we place our understanding above God’s promises, we trust what we can see more than God’s supernatural multiplication. Financial freedom is ours when we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). When the enemy says, “you can’t prosper financially,” we can rest assured of the truth in the scriptures and the principles of giving that God provides. Faithful stewardship aligns us with a Father that rewards those who diligently seek Him.
CHALLENGE:
Pray about tithing and ask God for peace about giving. Watch what He can do with ninety percent when you give the first ten percent.
