Walking Through Wilderness Seasons: 3-Day Reading Plan by Levi Lusko and Brooke LigertwoodExemplo
22-Mile Miracle
Do you feel like you’re stuck in a wilderness season? Like you're forever waiting on God for a miracle or breakthrough that will never come? Are you losing heart that He will actually do what you believed so deeply He would? Are you tempted to think God led you to the wilderness just to leave you there?
Consider this: what if it's not that God left you ‘on read’? What if it's not that God isn't hearing your cry? Maybe you are just in the middle of a 22-mile miracle.
Remember the nobleman's son in John 4: "So Jesus came again to Cana...and there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.”
The nobleman left and went his way from Cana back to his son in Capernaum. What the Bible doesn’t tell us is that this is a 22-mile journey. And when he got home, his servants told him the good news, “Your son lives!” When had he recovered? At the exact moment Jesus said he would.
The nobleman had to walk 22 miles in faith, taking Jesus at his word. He had to walk 22 miles believing the miracle without seeing it. He had to take heart and trust that his long, hot, exhausting trek was not in vain–that God was with him in it, that He had been true to his word, that there was another side to this journey, and that when he got there, he would find God was faithful.
Often, we want to see before we believe. But Jesus said there is a blessing in believing, even if we haven’t seen.
Don't lose heart. Believe God. Trust His word. Keep moving. Keep walking. If Jesus spoke it, you can believe it. In the middle of your pain, in the middle of your heartache, in the middle of your wilderness, in the middle of your longing, in the middle of your confusion, there is still a promise waiting for you on the other side.
As often as you need, remind yourself of this: this is not a dead end–it’s just a 22-mile miracle.
